Getting (fitness) ready for your Wedding day!


Look good and feel fantastic on your special day. Whilst every spare moment in the run up to your wedding is taking up with colour schemes, flowers, speeches, bridesmaids and suits making sure you take some time to look out for number one is important when getting ready for your wedding day!

Not only will training before your day make you feel and look how you wish but it will also play a part in relieving stress and taking your mind off all the other wedding thoughts passing through your head… how do I know this? My wife and I have gone through the wedding planning process!

Top 5 fitness tips for the Bride & Groom:

For the Bride

  1. Healthy diet and nutrition – 80% diet 20% exercise – keep your diet healthy and train hard for maximum results.

  2. HIIT a workout – Aim for high intensity – A lot of brides are just interested in loosing inches. If this is your goal, try high intensity interval training (HIIT) next time you work out. Tabata training is one of the BEST ways!

  3. Drink lots of water – Keep hydrated for healthy radiant skin, water also suppresses your appetite and helps your body burn stored fat aiding in weight loss.

  4. Do weights – And no you won’t bulk up! You will create that great toned look which will be the envy of all your guests.

  5. Invest in a personal trainer Get that kick start you need!

For the Groom

  1. Set goals but be realistic – Determine what you want to achieve for your big day, is it weight loss, toning up, gaining size – set targets throughout the year.

  2. Get plenty of sleep – Your body repairs when its at rest, especially when weight training it gives your muscles a chance to rest.

  3. Back work – Use medium weights and high reps for better posture.

  4. Complex carb and high protein diet – This helps to reduce body fat and gives you the energy you need to train regularly.

  5. Training is a great escape! – Training regularly decreases your stress levels and creates clear thinking for all your wedding decisions!
